How to purchase an original

Please contact the studio if you would like to purchase an original drawing or painting.

How do commissions work?

Commissions are personalized projects done at the bequest of a client. Though a majority of my work centers on people and animals, any subject matter is acceptable. A meeting with the artist will be arranged prior to the start of any commission to discuss the details outlined below.

Project deadlines can be accommodated in most cases. However, keep in mind it takes an average of 3-6 weeks to complete any given project after the subject, layout, and media is determined. This estimate does not apply to oil paintings and does not include framing time. Expect framing to take up to three additional weeks from delivery to the framer. Due to the nature of oil paints and the necessity for sufficient drying time, these projects will take significantly longer to ensure safe delivery. Please contact the artist for further information regarding this option.

Keep in mind, commissions are worked on in the order that reference materials and the deposit are received. Depending on how many projects I currently have in progress or on the schedule, this can affect delivery dates. Therefore, it is best to think several months in advance, if possible.

A non-refundable deposit is due once a project is determined. This deposit runs 50% of the estimated total. Estimated totals include tax, but not any framing or shipping costs, unless otherwise requested. The deposit is credited to the total price. Totals are due either upon delivery (in person) or before shipping if you choose to purchase the final product. You are not obligated to purchase the artwork. The artist retains the right to sell any works that have not been purchased by the original commissioner.

Projects are priced based on size, subject, complexity, and materials.

Artist retains copyrights to all created works and all rights of reproduction, unless otherwise negotiated.

The stories behind my commissions mean everything for the final product and they are what drive me in my work. I strive to take what is unique about each subject and make it flourish.

Mrs. Madson

They were celebrating ten years of marriage, and he wanted to do something special for her. This was her favorite wedding photo, but it was blurry, taken by a disposable camera in the dressing room. Still, I was able to adapt the image. He arranged dinner at the restaurant where they had their wedding reception and this was hanging on the wall when she got there. And who says that romance dies out?
